Why you may be missing out on TikTok marketing

Toward the end of 2017, a little video app called TikTok was released. TikTok allows users to upload short videos that can be viewed and shared by others on the platform. At first, the app grew quietly. Then it exploded.

In Q1 of 2019, TiKTok was the most downloaded app on smartphones. Many users see it as a replacement for Vine, which was another popular short-form video platform that shut down a few years ago. Others use it for education and for sharing important information. Regardless of why people use it, the platform is growing in prominence and now is a better time to get on board than ever.

TikTok is extremely popular

As we already mentioned, TikTok had more downloads than any other app in Q1 of 2019. So far in 2020, it is the number one downloaded app of the year, and it boasts more than 800 million users on a daily basis, and we suspect it won’t be too long before it crests 1 billion.

People who use TikTok everyday spend an average of 46 minutes per day using it. This is especially remarkable when you consider that most videos are around 15 seconds long.

The main message we’re trying to get across here is that TikTok is skyrocketing in popularity, so you don’t want to miss out on where your potential target audience is spending nearly an hour of their time every day. Plus, TikTok makes it easy for marketers to learn how to use it, so you can get started quickly.

Young people are leaving Facebook for TikTok

Facebook is still the most popular social media platform, but many of its users are 65 years or older. Younger people are abandoning the platform in preference of Instagram and TikTok.

Several factors play into this, such as Facebook’s lack of action in defusing political trolling and promoting conspiracy theories. Instagram and TikTok are more stimulating as well. Younger people seem to prefer engaging with videos or images more than they do with posting text-based statuses. If your target audience is in a younger demographic, now may be the time to start using TikTok for your brand.
