YouTube begins Shorts options rollout in U.S. 

This week YouTube rolled out a beta of itsTikTok-like Shorts video option to select U.S. users. Shorts was initially tested in India after TikTok was banned in the region, and this initial testing has shown excellent results with about 6.5 billion views per day

Soon, U.S. users will notice a “Shorts” row in the main feel of their YouTube app. Initially, Shorts will provide users with features like: 

  • Access to a multisegment camera.
  • The ability to string together multiple video clips. 
  • The ability to add music and control playback speed.

Hootsuite releases 2021 Social Media Image Guide

Images are an important part of getting your brand noticed on social media, and as dull as it may sound, how you format your images is important to getting noticed. After all, no one is going to look twice at your posts if your images are fuzzy or not positioned correctly. 

Hootsuite recently released its Social Media Image Guide for 2021, which lays out important image formatting information for many social media platforms. Platforms that the guide covers include: 

  • Instagram
  • Twitter
  • Snapchat
  • TikTok
  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Pinterest
  • Tumblr 
  • YouTube

Twitter releases survey on potential new business account features

Twitter started releasing hints that it was considering launching business profiles that would have additional features specific to businesses. These hints have been strengthened this month as Twitter has begun sending out a new survey to some users. The survey topic? Features that could potentially be included in their new business profiles. 

Some of the features mentioned in the survey include: 

  • Verification by default
  • A business category
  • A panel for business information, such as operating hours, location, etc.
  • A new business profile badge

Currently, Twitter hasn’t released a launch date for business profiles, but this new survey indicates that these profiles could be coming soon.
