PPC news: Week of January 11, 2021

Staying on top of the latest news in pay-per-click (PPC) advertising can help your business succeed. The PPC world moves at lightning speed, and changes to best practices or new ways to analyze data can mean the difference between meeting lead goals or being behind the curve.

Since we spend so much time navigating the world of digital marketing, we’re constantly keeping up to date with PPC news. Staying on top of this news can help you be more engaged and proactive in your digital strategy.

This week, we want to cover a few updates from Google about its Ads network.

Gmail Ads will be absorbed by Discovery Campaigns

On July 1, 2021, Google will remove stand-alone advertising features for Gmail Ads. Instead, Gmail advertising will be done through Google’s Discovery Ads.

This will have a significant impact on how Gmail advertisers operate as they will not have the ability to target Gmail Ads separately from Discovery Ads. However, the potential benefit is that campaigns created in Discovery Ads have the opportunity to display to users outside of Gmail alone.

We’re still learning how this change will affect Gmail’s advertising, but one recommendation would be to increase your ads spending for Discovery Ads to increase your search beyond Gmail Ads while this shift takes place.

More updates to come as soon as we learn how this change will affect Gmail marketing.

Google recently released a new version of Google Ads Editor

Many marketers manage Google Ads through their web browser, but some prefer to use the Google Ads Editor, which is a downloadable application for managing Google Ads campaigns.

The recent v1.5 update comes with many changes that give users more control over how they tailor their ads and track them. These features can allow marketers to fine-tune their strategies to get the most out of their paid search campaigns in the Google Ads network.
